Jessika Le Corre: Wild and Wonderful

Feather Eagle Sky Feature

A few months ago a friend introduced me to the beautiful world and work of Jessika Le Corre. Jessika is a wife and mother, the creator of a fantastic natural skincare line (Feather Eagle Sky) and and all-around earth mama. I find her world of breathtaking New Mexico sunsets and early AM cold plunges spectacularly inspiring. Spending time in nature is a part of her - embodied in her bones and lifestyle, and not, (as it may be for so many of us city-dwellers), a neat thing to check off a to-do list.

Jessika is the first woman I'm proud to feature on Wandering Wellness as an example of what it means to be connected to our wild and wonderful mother earth. And while it may be difficult for us to forage for our food or find a place in the city to sunbathe naked, I still deeply believe we can deepen our connection to this planet we all call home and to that place of wilderness that lives in each of us. May her her words remind us all that this place is accessible and magical.

WHAT DOES "WILD" MEAN TO YOU?

I don't view myself as "wild" I am just healthy. Wild is the opposite of tame, and clearly I am not tame. Wild isn't an idea but a oneness with the life force that is everywhere. Being completely authentic and trusting my intuition and my heart. Living my life in harmony with the natural world Is in itself an invitation for more wild. Nature is the ultimate, the Supreme in WILD... alive fertile juicy oozing with magic primal energy.  I love to move in nature to feel the sun beaming down on my face, the breeze against my breast, the wind whispering in my ear... I love the smell of moss, the taste of dirt, water rushing through me. I love to feel my feet naked against the ground. The wild is all around us the unseen and seen, transformation, and imagination, it touches the humanness and the borderlands where the spheres overlap.

HOW DO YOU ALLOW YOURSELF TO RE-WILD AND BE WILD IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY LIFE?

Well luckily I have never had to re-wild, I grew up in a small village on top of a mountain, I was raised by wild healthy avid nature lovers. My life is a reflection of all the beauty that touches me daily. I wake with the sun bringing in the day by walking outside listening to the birds honoring the mountains in the distance, talking to my Acequia, collecting the eggs from our chickens, we eat as local seasonal and organic as possible, this include a wild diet of elk and deer, foraging herbs and berries all summer long, harvesting real spring water, and living in a way that honors our ancestors and well as Mother Earth. Everyday I cold plunge on our land before I bathe or shower, this a time of silence, stillness, and beauty. I move everyday in nature that means running jumping crawling climbing hiking Etc.

My studio window looks out to the most heavenly mountains so even when I'm super busy I have positioned my eyes to see beauty. I sungaze before sunset with my children out somewhere on some magnificent cliff or Mesa, i often pee outside on our land at night so I can watch the stars and feel the cold against my body, and I regularly naked sun bathe getting vital cosmic gold for healthy skin eyes and mind. Once a month during full moon I sit with a Master Shaman this is the wild medicine.

DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE OR WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT FOR CITY-DWELLERS YEARNING FOR A BIT MORE WILDERNESS?

If you're yearning for more nature, than you are nature deficient. The cause of so much sickness, is a complete disconnection from Source, the natural world. I would strongly encourage anyone to get outside and get moving. The more that you connect with the sun, earth, and sky, the more you will want to be in that healing energy, and mindset changes as well, what you're ears hear and eyes see have a dramatic impact on healing. Seek out forests, trees and wild flowers, touch the earth with your bare feet, start forging seasonal foods, and train the body in a way that makes you connect with this primal wild energy.

IS THERE A WAY TO STILL ACTIVATE, ACKNOWLEDGE AND HONOR MOTHER EARTH IN A CONCRETE JUNGLE?

Absolutely. Grow a garden, give moon cycle blood to the earth as an offering, catch the rain, forage herbs they are all around, eat as locally and seasonal as possible, bathe in oils, and essential oils, honoring self is honoring Mother Earth. Support local farmers, engage in new moon and full moon ceremonies, give gratitude everyday for the divine energy that is all around you. Meditate.

WHAT DO YOU FEEL IS THE ROLE OF WOMAN ON THE PLANET
TODAY?

LOVE. Woman is the GREAT teacher of Love. Love is the highest energy and is the path to self healing and self actualization.

HOW CAN WE HONOR OUR FEMININE POWER AT THIS TIME?

Trust yourself. Trust your intuition. Love yourself. Surround yourself with empowered strong loving inspiring women. Give birth naturally, honor your wisdom and power. Sex is a pathway to enlightenment. Spend time connecting with the GODDESS Mother Earth, she will amplify this feminine power.

HOW DO YOU GIVE YOURSELF PERMISSION TO BE FREE?

I don't need permission.

WHAT DO YOU WANT YOUR LEGACY TO BE?

The greatest gift is a portion of thyself.” ~Ralph Waldo Emerson
