Belly, Heart, and Mind Tea
This past week has been a toughie. And not just because of what's going on in the world, but on a more personal level. I'm finding a deep need for healing foods and herbs for specific issues and ailments.
My belly - has been a bit out of sorts since a nasty bout of food poisoning (or that 24 hour stomach bug...who knows?!). And it's felt more unsettled and squeegy than normal.
My heart - has felt a little achey and tender as a relationship with a friend is evolving in an unexpected way.
My mind - has felt extremely overactive. And despite daily meditation sessions, and intentional unplugging, it's keeping me, for better or worse, analytical and very much 'on.'
Cue healing plants. I noticed the other day, I selected a trio of herbs that felt intuitive, appealing, and random. And yet, upon closer examination, were and are exactly what I need to nourish and nurture my belly, heart, and mind.
Read on below for this way I combine these flowers and herbs and their superpowers:
Triple Healing Tea
- 1 TBSP of dried organic rose petals. (Traditionally used as a love and heart-opening flower. Has a cleansing and detoxifying effect on the body that can lead to a cooling sensation. Also, research shows the smell of rose can be a mood lifter and ease tension.)
- 1 TBSP of dried organic chamomile flowers. (Soothing to the digestive system and calming to the body. Can serve as a mild relaxation or sleep aid).
- 2 TBSP of dried nettle leaves. (Nettles have many benefits including supporting the adrenal glands, the ability to stimulate the lymph, and acting as a tonic for the nervous system).
DIRECTIONS:
- Add herbs to about 8 cups of water. Bring to a boil. Cover and simmer for 5-10 minutes. Strain and enjoy.
**This also makes a lovely chilled tea.**
